Pride and Prejudice

So on Valentines day I rented the DVD Becoming Jane. It was a lovely movie about Jane Austen and I just love Anne Hathaway. Although I think it was a kind of sad ending, I still really enjoyed the story and watched is several times(especially the dance scene. Why dont we dance like that nowadays? It is so romantic!) Anyways, now this has sent me into a kick of all things Jane Austen. I couldn't find my copy of Pride and Prejudice so I went to the used bookstore and bought 2 more copies(so I would never be caught without one again). I then preceeded to read it twice through and to re-read the good parts a third time. Then I watched Pride and Prejudice(the Colin Firth version) twice through. Yes, all 6 hours of it. Which put me in the mood to read the book again and then of course, last weekend(while Dan was camping with the scouts) I watched the whole thing again. I'm not as fond of the new Keira Knightly Pride and Prejudice(It's just too rushed, I need 6 hours of Mr Darcy and Elizabeth). But I would have probably watched that too if I could have got my hands on a copy. So I am about to finish the book again for the third time(can you believe I am still not sick of it?!) and would probably read it again but I must restrain myself. I don't think an obsession is very healthy, plus I really have lots of other work that needs to be done. But I still plan to read. I just got Emma, and Persuasion which I have seen the movies but surprisingly never actually read. I am also going to get a couple of the Pride and Prejudice spin offs that explore Mr Darcy's perspective. And away I go to lose my self in the world of Jane Austen.

Pregnancy

No, sadly I am NOT pregnant. But it just baffles me. It seems like the entire SC4th ward is pregnant, or just recently gave birth. Seriously, I have never seen anything like it. It's almost like it is actually contagious! I wish I could catch it. Not for lack of trying. I can think of at least 8 girls that have gotten pregnant since Dan and I have been trying and I am pretty sure there are more than that. Which makes it all the more frustrating. This month is our three year anniversary; everyone keeps wondering when we are going to have a baby, but most of all myself.

Dishwasher vs. Frivolous Surprise

For Valentines Day, Dan gave me a choice:

1. Go shopping for and purchase a dishwasher for me.

2. A frivolous surprise

Now, Dan does some pretty excellent frivolous surprises, and he can be so thoughtful with gifts. And he did say I would probably like the frivolous surprise more than the dishwasher, but it would be more fleeting.
I could keep and use the dishwasher for a long time and all I would keep from the frivolous surprise would be memories. Also I know the dishwasher isn’t very romantic so he said if I choose dishwasher he would still get me some SMALL frivolous surprise(i.e. candy or flowers I’m guessing)
Now I have been Jones-ing for a dishwasher for quite some time. I have no idea what the big frivolous surprise could be, but I’m pretty sure it would be awesome.
I already asked if I could have both and he said nope.

So after polling my sisters and a friend "frivolous surprise" won out. So thats what I chose. I think I made the right decision because Dan is super excited about how excited I will be about it. I honestly have no guess what it could be, but it's really cute to see him so excited.

I'll find out next Thursday what my surprise is. :)

Snow Day!

This is the snowcave we found in Irwin Park.

The radio said we got 6 inches of snow on Sunday! Can you believe that. We haven't had that much in the valley since 1996!

Dan scraping off the car to go to church, which ended up being cancelled after Sacrament meeting. We had fun doing doughnuts in the church parking lot. :)
Also I gave myself a new haircut. It's a little bit shorter.

Croquis

These are some drawings I have been working on called croquis. These are like templates of body forms and posture which are then used to create fasion design(like the drawings on the front of clothes patterns). I drew these from pictures of people I found in fashion magazines. I first sketched with pencil and then went over with a fine black Sharpie.
